Appointment as a DeMars & Associates neutral is far from easy. Indeed, we scrutinize, train, and test to make sure that each arbitrator and mediator we certify upholds the tradition of excellence we established over a decade ago.

Screening and Training

A neutral is certified if he or she demonstrates the appropriate level of competence, understands the program policies, applies the required legal concepts, and shows continued interest in the fair and expeditious resolution of disputes.

Appointment as a DeMars & Associates neutral is contingent upon successful completion of training, which is gauged by the trainers and through performance on the written exam.

Upon completion of the initial training program, the neutral, who is under contract with DeMars & Associates, receives a certificate stating they have successfully completed training. Arbitrators and mediators are appointed to a one-year term. Continued service as a neutral is contingent upon regular attendance at refresher training sessions.
